Place the dried fruits in a large saucepan with the orange juice, port and spices. Place over a low heat and bring slowly to the boil.
Reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer gently for 40-45 minutes until the fruits are plump and tender. Check the pan from time to time adding a little more orange juice if necessary. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then spoon into bowls.
