  • Place the dried fruits in a large saucepan with the orange juice, port and spices. Place over a low heat and bring slowly to the boil.
  • Reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer gently for 40-45 minutes until the fruits are plump and tender. Check the pan from time to time adding a little more orange juice if necessary. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then spoon into bowls.
  • Reduce the heat, cover the pan Place the goat’s cheese in a bowl and beat to soften slightly. Serve a dollop on top of the compote and sprinkle lightly with the cinnamon and decorate with a little orange zest.

450ml orange juice
150ml Port
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
150g tub speadable French goat’s cheese
ground cinnamon
grated zest of 1 small orange
